While EndSARS Protests Rage, Bauchi APC Seeks PMB’s Presence

While EndSARS protests is the focus elsewhere in the country, in Bauchi State, something else is in dire need of presidential attention.

The state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is begging for President Muhammadu Buhari to show face.

It wants the president to come intervene in an internal crisis that was rocking the foundation of the party, according to Alhaji Aminu Tukur, a chieftain of the party.

He told journalists in Bauchi that  the president needed to wade into the differences of the party loyalists to avoid possible damaging the party prospect in the state.

According to him, this intervention had become necessary if the party at that level would see peace, in the collective interest of the diverse stakeholders.

Tukur’s worry is that what is happening now,  could create internal crisis as well disintegrate the party in the state if not nipped in the bud.

He also noted that the crisis or division among the party members could result in factions which could cause inconveniences for the party loyalists.

The chieftain suggested that the President should name or form the leadership that would noture  peace accord within the party.

 According to him, the former Governor Mohammed and the former speaker Yakubu Dogara have broker truce between them to strengthen the party in the state.

“The step was a right step in the right direction which would unite the APC loyalists and to avert creating differences,” he said.

Tukur urged members in the state to remain focused, he called on the leadership of the party to immediately reposition the party in the state,

Within the week, the crisis rocking the Zamfara State chapter took a messier dimension when the faction led by Senator Kabiru Marafa said it was heading to the Supreme Court.

It said its mission was to seek the apex court’s interpretation of the judgement on the APC congresses in the state.

Publicity Secretary of the faction, Bello Bakyasuwa, who made the announcement at a press briefing in Gusau said: “We have decided to go to the Supreme Court for the interpretation of the judgement on the APC congresses made by the Appeal Court, Sokoto Division. I think the State High Court, Gusau nullified the congresses because of lack of merit.

The Eagle reports that the Court of Appeal, Sokoto Division, had earlier affirmed the congresses that produced the party executives led by Lawal Liman.

With this, the judgement set aside earlier judgment by a Zamfara High Court, which nullified the congresses.
