When Will Salah Be Fully Fit? Klopp Drops Hint

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is back in training, but manager Jurgen Klopp will take his time putting the Egyptian sensation into action.

Salah’s domestic campaign has been disrupted by the Africa Cup of Nations and an unfortunate injury, resulting in just two appearances for the Reds in 2024. On February 17, he made a brief comeback to Klopp’s plans against Brentford, hitting the target in that match. However, physical tiredness has kept him out of action ever since.

Salah has missed crucial Premier League games and the Carabao Cup final, but he is getting closer to being fully fit. Before a Europa League match against Sparta Prague, Klopp spoke the following about the 31-year-old forward: “Mo travelled. He’s with us, he trained two days. Full of energy. We have to see but it’s so good that he’s back. It’s really good for us and you can see he’s very happy. A very unlucky situation [him] being out that long. He played an incredible game at Brentford and was then out again.”

Klopp added: “We want to be careful and have to be careful but we are in the middle of a super-intense period of the season. We need everybody and now let’s see how long we can use him. That’s how it is with him and others as well. It’s just good news.”

Before the next international break, Liverpool has four games left. When asked about the possibility that Salah may be called up again by Egypt, Klopp responded as follows: “That is nothing to do [with me] really. That will be decided in different departments. No, nothing to do with that. Let’s see how long he can play now. As I said, two days in team training – so, in a different situation players are not in the squad in this moment, but in our situation it makes sense. What can we give him? How much can we use him? We will see that. And then there are two games with Egypt, but it’s really not up to me or stuff like this, we are not really involved. That is discussed in other departments, let me say it like that.”

Salah has scored 19 goals so far this season, 15 of which have come in the Premier League. As rumours about a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2024 persist, Salah will be eager to contribute to future title chases.
