What Will Happen To Those Behind The Coup Plot –Defence Minister

The federal government has given an indication of what the fate of those behind the alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu would be

It gave the indication through the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), when he granted an interview to TRT World, Turkish television station.

“Everybody knows the repercussions when you take such actions, so I am sure they have made up their minds,” the minister said.

“They must have considered their families, but the truth is that even at the top levels of the armed forces, the government is ensuring that their families are treated fairly.”

“The announcement just came out, so they are going to face court-martial as usual. The court-martial will be free and fair; they will be allowed to get their own counsels to defend them,” Musa stated.

On the fate of the families of the alleged coup plotters, he stated:

“The family members are not left alone.

“The government is also making sure that at least they are taken care of. The wives and children need to be looked after,” he said.

Recall that the Defence Headquarters had recently, first denied reports that there was a coup plot against the administration, before later admitting same.

It also confirmed the arrest of 16 military officers and other civilians believed to have been involved in the alleged coup.

Also, there has been news that filmmaker and former chairperson of the Enugu state chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Stanley Amandi was arrested alongside a number of serving military officers, over the coup.

Though it  was thought initially that he was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), the department later “officially wrote” to the family stating that he was in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency, a Punch report referencing Premium Times, added.
