What Tinubu Discussed With PDP G5 Governors In London

The five disgruntled governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met with Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, in London, United Kingdom.

During Tuesday’s marathon meeting, the APC standard-bearer is alleged to have lobbied for the support of the five governors.

As a result of the PDP’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, refusing to step down after Atiku won the party’s presidential nomination, governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, as well as some political heavyweights from the South.

Hours after the governors’ meeting with Tinubu, the PDP claimed to be unaware of their discussion with the presidential candidate of the ruling party and noted that, in its opinion, the governors were on vacation in the United Kingdom.

However, the main opposition party stressed that it has the authority to punish the governors for any anti-party behavior and threatened to do so.

The dissatisfied governors were met by Tinubu and a team that included Kayode Fayemi, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, one other governor, and an ex-governor on Tuesday, according to a source who shed light on the London encounter. We are only currently anticipating the official announcement from the G-5 governors in January.

The insider declined to comment on what the demands of the irate governors were, stating that he wouldn’t want to speculate.

He said, “I don’t have details about that. What I know is that they have met and declared their indication at the meeting that they are not supporting any other candidate.”

The attendance of the governor of Lagos State and Fayemi at the meeting could not be independently confirmed by THEEAGLE.

According to a source in the Lagos State Government House, “I can assure you that the governor is still in Nigeria. I have got multiple enquiries regarding this allegation of the governor’s alleged travel with Asiwaju (Tinubu). In fact, we spoke twice today (Wednesday). Even if he were to leave the country to meet with the G-5 Governors, he wouldn’t want to publicize it because he is still very much inside the nation.”

Regarding the governors’ alleged collaboration with Tinubu, Timothy Osadalor, a member of the PDP National Working Committee, asserted that should the governors follow through on their threat to abandon the party’s presidential candidate, the party has the power to apply the required sanctions.
