What My Mummy’s Lover Did To Me –12 Year Old

A 12 year old girl has narrated before a court what her mummy’s lover did to her after she was left in his care.

She told an Akure Magistrate court that this happened after her biological father abandoned her and her two younger siblings aged 7 and 3, even as their mother also traveled to Libya two years ago, in search of better life.

Her mummy’s lover, 35 year old step father, and commercial motorcyclist, Ademola Adepetu, was the one in whose care she and her siblings were left

Unfortunately, she became a sex tool in the hands of the man.

She told the court that he locked her inside a room and raped her severally.

According to the girl: “Before travelling, my mother rented one-room apartment for us and left us in the care of her younger sister, who later absconded and never returned”.

The defendant who promised sponsoring her education, later ended up assaulting her sexually four times.

In his account, the police prosecutor, Martins Olowofeso, earlier informed the court that the offence was committed in Ondo town.

Olowofeso said the mother of the victim, who was a girlfriend to the defendant, travelled to Libya after renting a room for her three children, then aged 10, 5, and 3.

Adepetu himself added a twist to the whole case upon arraignment in court on a one-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.

He told the court that the girl was 15 years old when he had carnal knowledge of her, and that a 15 year old was old enough to know a man.

Afterall, he said, he married his first wife before the age of 12.

In her ruling however,  Magistrate Grace Alphonso, listened to the prayers of the police prosecutor, and ordered that Adepetu be remanded at Olokuta Prison pending DPP’s advice.

She also ordered that the three children be taken into custody for protection and counselling, while their mother, who is expected to return from Libya, be denied visitation rights upon arrival.
