 ‘We Will Wait, No Matter How Long It Takes Us To Vote’

That was the nature of resolution in some voters at the Ikate area of Lekki when it appeared the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would not show up.

At about 3pm when it was getting late, our correspondent who was around the venue heard some of the voters saying they would wait no matter how it took the exercise to take off.

Some of them who spoke to us said they had been around since the early hours of the day, waiting to perform their civic duty.

One of the voters who spoke said she had been available since 8am but that there were others who arrived about an hour ahead of her.

Information reached us and we got the number of an INEC official which we called as at 10am and she said they were coming but even after one hour of waiting, no one showed up”..

She told Eagle correspondent that she was ready to wait till 6pm to cast her vote.

Another voter,  Mr Tobi Joseph, who was participating in the exercise for the first tiem, said she walked from Ikate to his polling unit (071) and that having undertaken such a journey, that he was willing to wait for as long it would take for him to vote.
