‘We Wanted To Rehabilitate Your Roads, But The Incumbent Stopped Us’

Can you imagine a sitting government failing in its duties to the people that elected it, yet standing in the way of others desirous of improving the lot of the people?

Well that may be what had played out in an Ogun State community, within the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The revelation was a major fallout of the courtesy visit of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) gubernatorial candidate for the state, Comrade Olufemi Ajadi on the Olososun of Ososun Land Oba Ezekiel Sholanke.

Ajadi who was accompanied on the visit by the state chairman of the NNPP, Olaposi Oginni, and the Southwest Secretary & Director-General (DG) of his campaign team, Tunde Oke said efforts to rehabilitate the road was frustrated by the incumbent government in the state.

“We had wanted to rehabilitate the bad roads in every nook and cranny of your town but the incumbent government of the state did not allow us,” he said, urging the residents to vote for the NNPP which he said would cater to their interests.

Ajadi, who upon storming the town went on courtesy visit on the monarch, promised the people political inclusiveness if he won the Ogun gubernatorial election in 2023.

This unexpected visit came up on Thursday, September 8, where he was warmly received by the people.  After a short conversation with the Baale, Ajadi presented a modern wheelchair to a well-known physically challenged boy in the town, Yunusa Haruna.

He promised the community employment opportunities by an NNPP government in the state.

In his response, Oba Ezekiel, said his people had tried both the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the past, but that none had been able to meet the expectations of the people in terms of the dividends of democracy.

“You can see that our people are happy with you because they need change and youths are preferable and you are in that range of youths,” he said.
