Some residents of Egbado, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have cried out to the government to come to their aid concerning the bad roads in the area.
The residents who made the call during an interview with our correspondent, stated that the bad state of the roads is affecting both their economic and social lives.
For example, former chairman of itesiwaju Community Development Association (CDA) under Akera in
Ifo local government, Akinlotan segun Johnson, said the roads, right from Dalemon down to the Railway Station are in bad shape making movement difficult and expensive.
He said because of the economic importance of the road to the community that they had been embarking on community efforts, but that that has not been able to solve the problem.
He said the area experiences a lot of flooding once the rainy season sets in, and that theer would be need to construct drainages, which the CDA would not be able to handle.
He therefore called on both the local government and the state government to wade into the matter and save the residents the problems.
Speaking along the same line, another resident, Mrs Awwn Annigiman, who sells food ingredients in the area, said the state of the roads have been affecting their business.
“We are small business owners. We do not have money to afford big shops, so we are forced to continue to sell here, but the government should help our business by working on the roads”.

Lamenting further, she told our reporter: “As you can see my shop, the whole place is flooded with the little rain that fell today.
“And you can see the other places, the roads there are also very bad.
People are just struggling, looking for where to pass. So the business here is not really encouraging because of the bad road”.
Mrs Annigiman added that the dilemma for many of them is small capital, in that they would want to move to better places, but cannot afford the high shop rental prices there.
“We are begging the government to come and improve the roads, because when the road is good, there is every tendency that things will work out fine.
“No customer would want to put his or her legs inside the mud to come and buy from a shop that is surrounded by mud water”, she declared.

For Mr Olainka Albert, a shoe maker, a major problem in the area is high cost of transportation.
Blaming this on the bad state of roads, he also appealed to the government to do something about it.
Unlike the real estate route, because into my books and I get my books in neighbors, I have a loose amount of roads, which is not affecting my business. The only thing affecting my business is the fare price, because of the person that is in the road.
And the government can my advice on the government is that they should try and reduce the cost of living. It’s affecting us.
