Vinicius Not A Racism Victim – Barca Spokesman Claims In A Shocking Statement 

A Barcelona spokesperson appears to have claimed Vinicius Junior is not a victim of racism, while insisting the Real Madrid star “deserves a slap”.

The shocking assertion was made on social media on Tuesday by Mikel Camps, the deputy spokesperson for the Barcelona board of directors. He later removed his X post, but not before it was published by a number of media sources, including the Spanish journal COPE.

During Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Braga in the Champions League on Tuesday night, he wrote: “It’s not racism, he [Vinicius] deserves a slap for being a clown. What do these unnecessary and meaningless stepovers represent in the center of the field?”

When questioned about Camps’ remarks by El Chriniguito TV during the game, Vinicius’ Real teammate Rodrygo responded angrily, saying: “I don’t know if I can speak, they always encourage us not to speak, but it’s pathetic. There’s not much to say, very ugly.”

The incident occurred just a few days after at least two Sevilla fans, including one child, were seen on camera making monkey motions towards Vinicius during Real’s 1-1 La Liga draw away at Sevilla.

The Brazilian attacker has endured numerous instances of racial abuse over the previous few years. Valencia supporters yelled “monkey” against him during the previous season, and in May, four people were detained after a player effigy was hung from a bridge.

Vinicius released a statement following the abuse he endured in Seville that said: “The face of today’s racist is plastered on websites as on many other occasions. I hope the Spanish government does its share to permanently alter the law. These individuals must also face criminal penalties.

The first Clasico of the season will take place on Saturday when Real Madrid visits Barcelona in La Liga.
