Villagers are on the run after gunmen reportedly kidnapped and later killed a farmer, despite collecting N5.4million from him.
The farmer, Terzungwe Shaku, in Akor village of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State
also owned a drinking joint at Akor market.
He was abducted shortly before the New Year and held hostage for over two weeks, with a ransom of N20 milion placed on his head by the kidnappers.
Report says the family was able to raise N5.4million which the kidnappers accepted.
Unfortunately, they went ahead to kill the farmer right at the location where they received the ransom, the family said.
“It is unfortunate that Terzungwe Shaku was found dead at the point where he was supposed to be released,” the source lamented.

This has left residents of Akor and nearby villages in Nzorov Council Ward of Guma LGA more than stunned and have begun fleeing the area for fear of further attacks.
“He (Terzungwe) was targeted last year by armed men, but this time they kidnapped him. The family negotiated the ransom, and after paying, he was killed at the same spot they were directed to drop the money,” a resident reportedly added.
