Mohammed Kudus, West Ham midfielder, had an awkward interview following his team’s shocking last-minute loss against Mozambique.

In their final group game on Monday, the Black Stars seemed poised to defeat Mozambique and secure a spot in the AFCON knockout stage; however, The Mambas pulled off an incredible comeback in stoppage time to secure a 2-2 draw. Following the game, the Ghanaian players, notably West Ham star Kudus, who was hardly able to speak in a post-match interview, were left in disbelief.

Speaking to GTV Sports+, the attacking midfielder was at a loss for words for the first nine seconds of the interview but later said, “I’m out of words… I don’t know what to say, man. Thanks to the fans for their support, you know.”

When he was told that he was given the Man of the Match award, the player responded by saying, “Thank you, everyone, for the votes, thank you, thank you.”

Ghana finished their group stage campaign in third place with just two points after two draws and a loss. Unless other teams pull off a small miracle, Chris Hughton’s team is now looking at an early exit from the competition.

Kudus is anticipated to return to West Ham prior to their next Premier League match, which is scheduled on February 1 against Bournemouth, as his squad is all but eliminated from the AFCON.
