When Lionel Messi was officially unveiled for Inter Miami, his son Thiago nearly stole the show by trying to pull a nutmeg on his famous father.

Following a weather delay in Florida, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was presented to the ardent Miami fan base on Sunday night during a dazzling presentation.

Messi started to meander around the pitch at DRV PNK Stadium after David Beckham and Jorge Mas gave him his new No. 10 shirt.

With his gaze locked elsewhere, Thiago spotted an opportunity to try and roll the ball through the legs of his iconic father.

After barely succeeding in completing his megs effort, Thiago lifted his arms in excitement. The audience applauded the 10-year-old as his father recognised the humour in a manoeuvre that he had successfully executed numerous times over the years.

The 2022 World Cup winner is set to make his debut for Inter Miami on Friday when Tata Martino’s team takes on Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup. Inter Miami is thrilled to have the legendary Argentinean playmaker on board as they struggle to find their footing in the Major League Soccer.
