UAE Joins In Making Visa Entry Tough For Nigerians

From now transit visa applications for Nigerians are banned, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ruled, even as it marshalled tougher entry conditions for Nigerian travelers.

This is coming at a time when both the United States of America (USA) and Canada have reviewed visa and stay permit requirements for Nigerians.

UAE immigration directives state that while Nigerians aged 18 to 45 will no longer be eligible for tourist visas unless accompanied, those aged 45 and above, must present a personal six-month bank statement.

Such a statement must prove the applicant has a minimum monthly balance of $10,000 (or its naira equivalent).

“An applicant who is 45 years or above must provide a Single Nigerian personal bank statement for a period of the last six months, with each month’s end balance reflecting a minimum ending balance of USD 10,000 or its naira equivalent.

“Kindly note that the above points must be taken into consideration before sending your applications with other existing documents such as hotel reservation, data page, etc,” the notification reads.

“For Nigerian nationals, please bear in mind that an applicant aged 18 to 45 years travelling alone is not eligible for the Tourist Visa Category.

There have been hushes whether there is a deliberate gang-up against Nigerians given that similar restrictive visa entry policies against Nigerians, have come from other countries.
