Tributes, Sorrows As Grace Iyabo Oribamise Adeyemi Goes Home

It was amidst touching tributes and sorrows yesterday, that Mrs Grace Iyabo Oribamise Adeyemi , wife of senior lecturer at the Nigerian institute of journalism, Mr Femi Oribamise, was laid to mother earth.

The burial in the Ogun outskirt of Mowe, saw Family, friends and associates come out in their number to give a final honour to a woman who obviously had touched lives both at home, in church and the work place.

The NIJ delegation to the event was led by the Provost, Mr Gbenga Adefaye and included the Deputy Provost, Dr Dele Omojuyigbe, Registrar, Mrs Patricia Kalesanwo; Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mr Mike Osuji as well as that of General Studies, Dr Adeboye Ola.

A sombre atmosphere enveloped the neigbourhood, and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles praise team, despite scriptural admonitions, had a difficult time, getting the mourners to loosen up.

The husband performs the dust to dust function

Many sympathisers silently battled their emotions only to fully break down when an all-pupils delegation began to render their dirge, an oration of praise to the departed, and mournful realization that she had taken her exit. Hankies and bare palms began to make the

journey from the pockets to the face, wiping and cleaning off tears.

In his sermon predicated on John 14:1, theofficiating minister, Pastor Victor Abbah, spoke of life as full of battles, the climax of which is death.

He said the day’s occasion provided a grand opportunity for the living to overview their lives, whether it be for good or bad, and to make amends where necessary.

Even then, he prescribed the Boys Scout motto of BP – Be Prepared to all presence reiterating that no mortal could be certain when their time would come.

In his tribute, the husband Mr Femi Oribamise had described his wife as a close friend, lover and virtuous woman who had made a great impact in his life, the family and to others that had the opportunity of contacting her.

Born in May 19, 1970, Mrs Grace Iyabo Oribamise Adeyemi, died on March 5, 2023.
