It is harvest time for the members of the national basketball team, D’Tigress as the government of President Bola Tinubu has decided to reward them big.

This follows their impressive recent performances in the game.

This the Federal Government has started by presenting the players and officials, certificates for National Honours and title documents for houses allocated to them in Abuja.

The presentation took place in Lyon, where the team is competing in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

It was an exciting moment for the players and officials seeing their dreams come true.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General, led the delegation.

Reacting to the redemption of the promise, the Director of Information and Public Relations at the NSC, Dr. Mrs. Kehinde Ajayi, described it as a clear departure from the experiences of the past.

“Nigerian sports wouldn’t have prayed for a better leader than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, he declared, while assuring that the promises would soon be disbursed.

NBBF President Engr. Musa Kida and Coach Rena Wakama, spoke in similar fashion, acknowledging the government of President Bola Tinubu for making real the promise.

The Eagle reports that Nigeria’s D’Tigress has had an impressive representation at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament in France.

The national handball team secured fifth consecutive AfroBasket title in 2025.

They won against Colombia and the Philippines, but lost to South Korea.
