The Disrespectful Girl

By Ezinne Blessing Ezenwa

Once upon a time, in a village called Obia, there lived a girl named Ifeoma. She was very disrespectful to elders and her parents and other people always warned her about her behavior but she would just turn deaf ears to such warnings.

One day, on her way to school, she saw an old woman carrying heavy load, and the old woman asked Ifeoma to help her to carry her load.

Ifeoma said, “Are you stupid? How dare you tell me to help you carry your load? Do I look like a good Samaritan to you, you stupid idiot?”

Ifeoma rained and rained more insults on the poor woman. The old woman was so bitter when Ifeoma left her.

She cursed Ifeoma that she would never have peace; that in anything she does, she would not succeed.

Ifeoma replied: “Are you fine? Do I know you? Why will you tell me to greet you? Out of all the people to greet, it is now you? You must be dreaming”.

The woman said, “Is it me that you are talking to?”.
