Terrorism financing: NLC Not Joking This Time

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is not taking lightly the terrorism financing allegation levelled against its leader, Comrade Joe Ajaero.

Whereas it may have bugged in previous threats to sustain a nationwide strike, apex labour appears resolute for an all-out protest this time.

It has put its members nationwide on red alert, possibly later tonight, should the federal government refuse to back down its allegations of terrorism financing.

Not only did it convoke an emergency National Executive Council in Abuja on the boiling issue, but , has, by resolution, put all its state chapters and affiliates on the alert.

They are to kickstart an indefinite strike from midnight should anything happen to the NLC President, Joe Ajaero.
Recall that the police had stormed the NLC headquarters recently, and thereafter, invited Ajaero for questioning.

Terrorism financing is considered a serious offence in nations of the world given the wider implications, not just on safety of lives and property, but also, the international status of the concerned country.

“The NEC directs all affiliates and state councils to immediately commence the process of mobilising their members across the nation:, a communique on the emergency National Executive Council said, but added:
“The congress will not hesitate to take all necessary actions, including mass protests and industrial actions, to protect the integrity and independence of the labour movement.

“If anything happens to the President of the Congress or any other leader of the congress in furtherance of these tendentious allegations by the state;

Recall also that the NLC was instrumental to the recent nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest in the country.
The protest though called off eventually has since left aftermaths.

For example, there are ongoing campaigns against the continued holding in detention of some who participated in the demonstrations, especially as they have not been formally charged, much less released.
