Stay Away From Marriages That Are…. – Prof. Emeritus

Women were advised to leave abusive relationships by Professor Emeritus Uche Azikiwe, the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s wife and the premier of the Eastern Region. Azikiwe was Nigeria’s first president.

The don said that it is preferable to be alone than to pass away in a marriage where the husbands or wives use one another as punching bags. He claimed that abusive relationships had taken many lives in the past.

Speaking from the Zik’s Onuiyi Haven in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Prof. Azikiwe added that education has made women more aware of their fundamental human rights and insisted that the time “when women were seen and not heard” has long since passed.

“In the olden days, women were to be seen and not heard. Most of them didn’t go to school and didn’t know their rights, but with the influx of Christianity and education, most families nowadays, insist that their women will go to school.

“When you go to school, you are well informed of your rights and privileges.

“I think with the exposure to education, you can’t tell a woman who is not happy in a marriage to be there. I can’t even tell my daughter suffering domestic violence to continue enduring it for the fear of what people will say.

Life is more important than marriage, which is why. Consider Osinachi Nwachukwu’s case as an example. Her case has been resolved, and you won’t hear anything more about that woman. Such a beautiful talent was lost due to domestic violence.

THEEAGLE had reported that Osinachi was pronounced dead on Friday night in an undisclosed hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Earlier reports claimed that she died of cancer, but the social media has been flooded with different versions of how the singer suffered domestic violence with her husband prior to her death.

A source close to the deceased’s family, who spoke to THEEAGLE on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Osinachi was a victim of domestic violence, describing her marriage as hell on earth.

According to her, “it is painful that despite my advice, this good woman who is obviously a gift to the world, chose to die in that marriage. Everyone that knows her is aware that she has been going through deep pains.

“Behind that smile you always see on the altar when she is ministering and in her videos, were deep sorrows due to this marriage. As a music minister, she was scared of what the world would say and she kept trusting God until her death.

“I told her to leave this marriage but she believed all will be well. The husband never supported her music career, she strived and with the help of God and her pastor, she became known everywhere. This should serve as a warning signal to all other women going through hell and refusing to open up.”

She revealed that Osinachi, whose worship music had impacted lives across the continent and beyond, died on a live support after the last fight with her husband.
