Stampede – Eti-Osa Residents Beg Sanwo-Olu For More BRT Buses

The residents of Eti-Osa Local Government have pleaded with the Lagos State Government to grant them more Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) Buses.

This follows the stampede that has become a regular occurrence at BRT assigned bus stops covering the area.

The Eagle correspondent was a witness to the stampede today, following the massive number of Ajah-bound commuters waiting for the buses at Opposite post office, CMS, Lagos Island.

The commuters majorly lamented  that they were tired of waiting long each time the loading bus departed.

Our reporter observed that some left the long queue for commercial buses as they could not bear the long-time waiting.

A resident of Osapa Londo, Mr. Taiwo Ogunboyejo said Lagos State Government had tried to make dividend of democracy to be reflected in every nook and cranny of Lagos by making transportation easy to board for citizens.

He particularly commented on the air-conditioning and USB ports facilities saying these were novel and commendable.

“Governor should please add more buses to the ones running at the moment because we have been expecting this opportunity for long and we will be happy if we enjoy the opportunity to the full satisfaction,” he said.

A trader at Ajah modern market, Mrs. Folarin James, said commuters in the queue patiently wait for BRT Buses as the fare was affordable in addition to the rooms being spacious and conducive.

“The commercial buses are still there to board because they have not seen the BRT Buses as competitor. If government can make the buses surplus, those commercial buses will reduce their fare hike,” she said.
