Shocking: Have You Heard The Latest On Simon Ekpa?

Have you heard the latest on Simon Ekpa, the Finnish-Nigerian separatist agitator and self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile.

Reports say the District Court of Päijät-Häme, has ordered that Mr Ekpa be imprisoned “with probable cause on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent.”

It advised the action after submitting the Ekpa “has contributed to violence and crimes against civilians in South-eastern Nigeria.”

These follow his arrest today by the Finnish Central Criminal Police.

Mr Ekpa is self-proclaimed separatist leader, viewed in some Igbo quarters as not acting in the collective interest of the Igbos.

He was arrested alongside four others on Thursday on suspicion of terrorist activities, a Finnish newspaper reported.

The Finnish police said they suspect that Mr Ekpa “has contributed to violence and crimes against civilians in South-eastern Nigeria.”

Back home, some have said the arrest served Ekpa right, with a chieftain of the apex Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, toeing same line.

He described Simon Ekpa’s arrest  as a huge relief to the Igbos and South-East.

“The Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, wishes to express its profound relief and collective gratitude to the authorities following the recent arrest of Simon Njoku Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the Biafra movement”, he has been quoted as saying

“His reckless intentions to declare a Sovereign Biafra Nation on December 2, 2024, have posed a substantial threat to the tranquility and stability that the people of Southeastern Nigeria have long yearned for.

“His actions, which have consistently sought to incite unrest and civil disorder, are antithetical to the progressive aspirations of an Igbo Nation that has decisively moved away from the harrowing conflict of the past.”

Meanwhile the report on Simon Ekpa’s arrest a discussion for his possible imprisonment wold follow next in the District Court of Päijät-Häme.

“The police suspect that the man (Ekpa) has promoted his efforts from Finland with means that have led to violence against civilians and authorities as well as other crimes in the region of South-eastern Nigeria.

“The man has carried out this activity, among other things, on his social media channels,” the Head of the investigation, Crime Commissioner, Otto Hiltunen of the Central Criminal Police, was quoted as saying.

Mr Ekpa, a Nigerian-Finnish citizen, was said to have been indicted for financing terrorism alongside the four other suspects.

The police suspect that the Biafra agitator committed the crime of collecting money in violation of the Finnish Money Collection Act.

The crimes were allegedly committed between 23 August 2021 and 18 November 2024 in Lahti, a town in Finland.

The other four suspects are persons with a foreign background born in the 1970s or 1960s, according to the report.
