See Nigerian With Igbo Roots That Just Made History In America

See this Nigerian, Steve or Junior Ezeonu, just 22, and who he has just made history in far away America, by emerging victorious in an election.

He has been attracting accolades for dusting others to winning the Grand Prairie City Council run-off election in Texas, US.

And for that reason, he has also become a toast of the Nigerian Diaspora commission, who has been backing diaspora issues.

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO,  Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) just reached out to him, congratulating him for the feat.

The Eagle investigations show Dabiri congratulating Ezeonu, in a statement signed  by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media and Public Relations of NIDCOM.

In the statement,  Dabiri-Erewa siad Ezeonu, had by his feat, demonstrated that that hard work and dedication have their prizes, especially one won throuhg hard work.

It stated that the young  Nigerian- American, beat his closest rival in the June 5 run off election,Greg Giessner with 3903 votes as against Greg’s 3720.

It should be noted that Ezeonu scored 51.2 per cent of the votes as against Greg’s 48.8 per cent, which Dabiri-Erewa has attributed to hard work and doggedness, resilience and dedication.

Dabiri-Erewa also advised him to live up to his promises to his constituency to justify the confidence they reposed on him by voting him in the election.

Continuing, she also urged other Nigerians on the imperative of emulating the example of Ezeonu in their own individual endeavours.

She equally appreciated  the Nigerian Comunity in Texas for giving him  their maximum support during his campaign.

Ezeonu, in one of his campaign posts  prior, had described himself as a “young man motivated by his community and determined to improve the lives of each Grand Prairie resident”

He said he had served as a retail store clerk, youth basketball trainer, and currently a substitute teacher and tutor for low-income students throughout the DFW metroplex, adding: “ These jobs may not have been generous in pay but they gave Junior the opportunity to learn and experience the day-to-day trials that many folks face here in Grand Prairie. And from those experiences a passion for public service developed and motivated Junior to serve his community”.

He said he also believed that Grand Prairie has a bright future with the right leadership, a progressive Leadership that listens to the concerns of each resident and meets them where they are rather than lecture them about what they should be doing..
