See Gang Members Arrested For kidnap, killing Of This Seminarian

The police has released the names of those allegedly nabbed in connection with the death of the young, promising seminarian, whose photo appears above.

Nnadi Michael of the Catholic Good Shepherd Major Seminary at Gonin Gora, Kakau in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, was kidnapped and murdered, on January 9, 2020, by the gang.

He was among four priests in training involved in the kidnap, but while the rest three were released, he was murdered in cold blood by the group, after they had been paid a ransom.

Police Spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Frank Mba in a statement to newsmen, gave the names of the suspects as Tukur Usman 37 old father of 7; Shehu Bello , a 40 year old father of 5 and Mustapha Mohammed, 30 year old father of 1, all of them from Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.

Their arrest followed months of intense search and extensive intelligence operations by crack detectives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Mba said.

The Catholic community particularly was alarmed on January 9, 2020, when news broke that four seminarians of the above facility had been kidnapped following an operation that literally took everyone by surprise.

They only released three on January 31, almost after almost a month in captivity.

The alleged gang

According to Mba, detectives’ investigations link the suspects to another 19-man gang that kidnapped the wife of one Dr Phillip Ataga and his two daughters on January 24, 2020 at Juji Community in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.

Recall that Mrs Ataga was killed by the gang following her resistance to attempt by the gang leader to rape her.

The gang also had also collected a ransom, and released the daughters and corpse of the woman they murdered.

According to the DSP, the same masterminded the kidnap of six students and two teachers of Engravers College, Chikun LGA, Kaduna, from their school premises on October 3, 2019.

He said the gang belonged to a hybrid terrorist criminal network causing untold havoc in North-Central, Nigeria, and have actually confessed to several other random operations along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

Motorists have equally fallen prey to their operations, some killed and others losing millions of naira in cash and valuables.
