Security Threats: Undercover Agents Deployed To Schools, Communities  

Following security threats across the country, undercover agents are now being deployed to schools and communities.

The deployment will cover all the states of the federation, according to the information.

“The strategic plan is based on the whole-of-society approach with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps as the lead agency.

“The Corps is also hosting the headquarters of the Centre, saddled with the responsibility of coordinating safety and security response for schools and host communities in collaboration with all security agencies and other relevant stakeholders”, Commandant General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi has stated.

Audi who gave the order on Friday, in Kaduna State, at a ceremony marking the end of a five- day capacity building organised by National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC), was represented by an Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Training and Capacity Building, David Abi.

He said the Corps would partner both Ministry of Education in the states and Local Government Education Authorities at grassroots level for a successful implementation of this policy.

The capacity building, he informed, is designed to strengthen security resilience of relevant stakeholders including vigilante groups, retired security personnel, members of host communities as well as serving personnel of NSCDC.

The NSCDC boss said the training was to equip the participants all strategies and knowledge needed to providing protection for schools and host communities from violence and attacks.

Beyond sending undercover agents, he said the Corps was active on other fronts and with programmes of relevance.

“The corps is also hosting the headquarters of the Centre, saddled with the responsibility of coordinating safety and security response for schools and host communities in collaboration with all security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.

“The Centre is the first of its kind in Africa, available records indicate that no other country has this kind of facility with the sole responsibility of providing safety and security prevention and protection measures for schools and host communities.” He noted  that with the recurring cases of attacks and violence in schools in the country, the task ahead of the centre was enormous”.
