Security Threats Nationwide: Police Forewarns Abuja Residents

As part of its response to security threats nationwide, the Nigeria Police Force has released a forewarning to residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

It has announced plans to roll off a simulation exercise in the Federal Capital territory (FCT) Abuja as part of its crisis response simulation exercise.

The exercise sheduled to take place on Thursday, November 28, 2024, is organised in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, and would take place around Idu Train Station between 9am and 2pm

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, said the exercise is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance the preparedness of security forces in addressing security threats across the country.

“In furtherance of efforts in combating all forms of crimes and criminality in Nigeria, the Federal Government has initiated a joint operation and training exercise to prepare security forces to respond appropriately and adequately to security threats in Nigeria.

“In this regard, the Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on Thursday, 28th November 2024, from 9am to 2pm,” the statement read.

According to the police, there would be sound of heavy explosives and residents should not panic, should they hear such sounds as it would be within what it calls controlled environment.

It added that simulation exercises, especially in the imminence of security threats, are organised to test emergency response capabilities, and therefore posed no danger.
