‘Same Big Mistake As Ronaldo’ – Man Utd Warned Off PR Signing Benzema

The Red Devils have been warned not to make the same “mistake” they did with Cristiano Ronaldo, and they have been advised not to “PR sign” Karim Benzema.

Amidst concerns about Karim Benzema’s future in Saudi Arabia, the Red Devils are among the teams said to have shown interest in the former France international. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner is rumoured to be trying to find a way out of Al-Ittihad.

Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly among his Premier League suitors; however, United has been instructed to avoid getting involved in any transfer squabbles. Despite having previously had their fingers burned by seasoned attackers, they have already placed their trust and financial resources in 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund, the frontman.

Paul Parker, a former United defender who played for Old Trafford and won two Premier League titles, told SpilXperten: “Karim Benzema would be yet another step backward. He would just be another PR signing, and Manchester United definitely doesn’t need that. He would be the completely wrong player to bring in. Completely wrong. There is a reason he left Real Madrid, which is probably primarily about the money, but also because he likely wasn’t guaranteed a starting position. It is likely that some fans would take him, but it would be a massive mistake. Hojlund is the future, and it would be a big mistake to bring in Benzema, who is not nearly as hungry as Hojlund. I cannot describe his career in words. There are no words big or good enough to describe what he has achieved, but he is finished at the top level. But It would just be making the same mistake as before when they brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, and Cristiano Ronaldo. It would be yet another step backwards.”

Benzema is currently 36 years old. Over the course of 14 seasons at Real Madrid, he scored 354 goals, but his illustrious career at the top is coming to an end. Although United seem to be backing away from a bid for one of the best No. 9s of the modern period, someone in England might be willing to take a chance on him.
