Real Madrid have reportedly made their decision on Toni Kroos’ future as his contract nears its expiry in the summer.

According to German media site Sport Bild, there is a greater chance that Kroos will stay for an additional year because Carlo Ancelotti’s contract has already been extended until 2026. Given the declining importance of fellow midfielder Luka Modric at the team, the Italian manager strongly believes in Kroos’ strategic ability in the middle of the pitch and is pushing for his extension.

Even though younger players like Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are starting to show promise, Kroos is still an important member of Real Madrid’s midfield since he keeps showing up for Los Blancos in big games. His recent displays have persuaded the Madrid administration of his durability, and it’s been said that negotiations to extend his contract will likely start at the end of March. Both sides are eager to come to a mutually beneficial conclusion.

According to reports, Kroos has told his group of friends and family that he plans to either finish the current season with the Spanish powerhouses or retire from professional football. Madrid is prepared to extend its contract to him by one year, just like in 2023, should he decide to try his luck for more hardware after the summer.

It is also believe that Kroos is considering making a comeback from his international retirement to assist Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany in the forthcoming European Championship, should he receive a call-up. However, Madrid will always play a big role in his life because his family—including his wife and kids—have found solace in Spain.
