Rape Case: Man Utd Release Statement On Mason Greenwood

Following the announcement that Mason Greenwood’s criminal case had been dismissed, Manchester United issued a statement explaining their next course of action.

United welcomed the most recent Greenwood development in a formal statement published on the club’s website.

The statement reads: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.

“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”

When United releases their following update, a decision on his playing time will probably be made. Despite the charges being dropped, he was still listed on the club’s website under the men’s first team squad section.

United suspended the 21-year-old indefinitely after his arrest in January 2022. He was eventually granted bail, but after breaking those terms he was detained once more and charged with attempted rape, assault causing actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behavior.

Prior to the Crown Prosecution Service’s announcement that all charges against Greenwood had been withdrawn, he was scheduled to go on trial in November 2023.
