Policemen who extorted N2.3m from a man must be re-thinking their actions as they have now been arrested and ordered to pay back the money.

This followed their identification and detention by the Nigeria Police authorities.

The policemen perpetrated the act against a man identified as Nwosu Ndubuisi.

A statement by the Zone 7 Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP M.B. Abdulkadir, on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, added that the  N2 3m has been recovered and returned to the victim.

“He further affirms that the Zone 7 headquarters remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the rule of law, public safety, security and its mandate of protecting lives and properties.”

The matter would probably have gone like that, but for the proactive reaction of an X user, Harrison Gwamnishu with the handle #HarrisonBbi18.

He was the one that brought the act to limelight making the police authorities to move into action.

The policemen had allegedly forced Ndubuisi to sell his laptop at Banex Plaza in Abuja to pay for his bail.

IT is expected that the latest incident would serve as further warning to other men in uniform who are in the habit of soiling the image of their force.
