The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of alleged attack on some markets in Lagos.

The markets allegedly attacked by thugs included Ladipo auto parts market, Balogun and Ebute-Ero .

But dismissing the alleged attacks, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, told Daily Trust: “The traders agreed to close shop on Sunday and Monday. The thugs only came to enforce the agreement”.

There had been reports that thugs stormed the aforementioned unannounced and ended up inflicting on the traders, physical injuries, with some of them losing monies and goods.

A report by Daily Trust quotes one of the traders at Balogun market, James Onwuaman, saying he sustained injuries in the course of the attack.

The trader said some of them had earlier received threats via text which they did not take seriously.

The report cites another trader, Benjamin, said they were now watching further developments.

The alleged attack by thugs has however been allegedly dismissed by the police.
