Picture Of Tiv Man, His Mother’s Found Where He Hung Himself

Picture of a Tiv man and that of his mother are part of the things found where he allegedly hung himself, not in Tiv land, but in a classroom in far-away Nasarawa state.

Those are part of the exhibits the police is already working with in the case which happened on Friday.

The man, 30 year-old James Samuel, was found hanging in a classroom of the Government Secondary School Gurku, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, despite hailing from the Tiv tribe in Benue State.

The deed was allegedly discovered by a police officer resident in the area but serving in Abuja, who in turn promptly filed a report at the Gurku Police Outpost.

Two pictures of James Samuel at tender age and that of his mother were discovered at the scene upon arrival, while the police supervised the bringing down of the corpse.

The Tiv community leader in Gurku, simply identifies as Chief Samuel, and who identified himself as the biological father to the deceased, said he was a farmer, welder and a traditional drummer, and that he attended the Government Secondary School Gurku.

He described him as Tiv man who was popular amongst his peers, and who understood Hausa, Gbagyi, Jaba, Gwandara tribes despite hailing from Tiv man.

“I learnt that this is the first suicide in the history of Gurku land and that it is taboo here”, he said

The traditional ruler of Gurku, Alhaji Jibrin Waziri who spoke through an aide, Madakin Gurku, Zubairu Adamu, confirmed the incident and said that he visited the scene.
