Philadelphia Eagles Beat Dallas Cowboys 24-20 in Season Opener

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys season opener at Lincoln Financial Field yesterday was one game worth more than two.

It was characterised by high points from beginning to end, with Jalen Hurts scoring two touchdowns and Philadelphia Eagles pitching a shutout in the second half; in the end the Eagles came off tops 24-20

Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles, had posted an impressive result, winning 16 of their last 17 games, including a Super Bowl.

Nonetheless, it was not an easy victory yesterday, as tension remained high throughout the duration both in the field of play and elsewhere.

Victory could have gone either way especially if CeeDee Lamb had utilised the passes firmly in his hands.

Those slips enabled the Eagles to hold on to their 4-point lead in the pulsating game.

Part of the intrigue of the game was the disqualification of Jalen Carter following an unsportsmanlike conduct.

It was however in the second quarter that the Dallas Cowboys drew first blood, on a 1-yard run, with the score line at Cowboys 14 – Eagles 7.

Following a Jalen Hurts touchdown run, the Eagles were however able to tie the game 14:14.

Sustaining the tempo of optimism, the Eagles were able to extend their lead with a 58-yard field goal from Jake Elliott, taking scores to Eagles 24 – Cowboys 20

Part of the highlight was the suspension of the game on account of a severe thunderstorm.

That did not prevent the 4^th quarter from recording highlights, with the Eagles having the upper hand at the end of regulation time.
