Okosodo, Sanwo-olu, Nsikan, Others Join The Eagle Hall of Fame

Some distinguished Nigerians on Friday emerged winners in different categories at this year’s The Eagle Awards & Banquet 2024, organised by The Eagle Newsmedia.

They have thus, joined the news organisation’s reputable hall of fame, which includes distinguished Nigerians from the arena of politics, business, philanthropy and sports.

A leading and integrated Mass Media organisation in the country, The Eagle Newsmedia, is also involved in media consultancy and training.

The ceremony which affirms rare achievers, presenting them for public recognition and acclaim, held at the auditorium of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Ogba Lagos, with the institution’s Director of Special Programmes, Dr Jide Johnson as anchor.

In a brief address at the event, the convener, Cami Ezenwa who was joined on the podium by his team of volunteers, said the day’s programme was simply to give honour to whom it is due.

“And by this, I mean celebrate you and I first, but much more, acknowledge other Nigerians from different walks, who by their words and deeds, have made great impacts and have become worthy ambassadors.

And for that matter, which medium is best suited to be host, other than The Eagle Newsmedia, the platform that provides refreshing perspective to the news?”

He said it is in exercise of its surveillance and watchdog roles that “this ebullient member of the effervescent 4th Estate of the realm, is presenting to us today, leading lights from different sectors of the Nigerian economy, for acknowledgement and celebration.

These are individuals and organisations that, in their different corners have done commendably well – birthing products and services of value and pursuing and implementing agendas of great positive impacts on society”.

In all, there were 14 trophies presented, 11 of which went to individuals, two to products and one to an association.

Merit Award for Industry, Mr Nelson Nsikan, and Grassroots Politician of the year, Comrade Akinola Abiodun

Some of the award winners and their categories are as follows:

  1. Jermaine Sanwoolu – Public Service Award, for effective contribution in public service.
  2. Anthony Okosodo – Inspirational Leadership Award, given in recognition of impactful leadership roles
  3. Don Olusegun Ugbo – Grassroots Politician Of The Year; For immense impact in his immediate  community
  4. Eunice Iwu-Basil Event Manager Of The Year’ recognsed for her unique service to clients and
  5. ACP Musendiq Aremu Orobiyi Gallant Officer Prestigious Award; For lifting the image of the Police Force positively
  6. Samuel Ayetutu Humanitarian Ambassador of the Year, in appreciation of his efforts towards improving people’s welfare
  7. Oladayo Kazeem Badmus Kilamuwaye –Most Promising Political Icon, Ogun State; in recognition of his contributions to political development of his state;
  8. Nelson Nsikan -Merit Award for Industry; given for his astuteness and reliability in service
  9. Olusegun Michael Fafore as Entrepreneurship Icon of the Year, given his unique entrepreneurial abilities
  10. Comrade Akinola Abiodun – Grassroots Politician of the year, for his commendable impact in his immediate constituency, as well as
  11. Ambassador Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi -Inspirational Young Person of the Year, in recognition of her industry and hardwork

Bullion Records went home with the plaque for Record Company of The Year in recognition of its innovative approach to artiste’s promotion, while the Alimosho Events Vendors Association won the trophy for the Professional Association of the year.

The organisers commended it for the way it had been able to organize and unify its members, enabling them to operate ethically.

Amongst distinguished invividuals who witnessed the awards presentation were the Registrar of the NIJ, Mrs Patricia Kalesanwo, as well as former Deputy Provost of the institution, Dr Dele Omojuyigbe.
