Ogun PDP Dismisses Adebutu, Four Others

Ladi Adebutu, a previous candidate for governor, and four other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun State chapter, were expelled on Thursday.

 

The expulsion, according to the party (PDP), was due to their suspected involvement in the manipulation of the delegates’ list used to conduct the May 25, 2022, governorship primary election of the party and flagrant disobedience to a court order.

After the relevant Working Committee of the party reviewed the report of a 5-man disciplinary panel formed to look into the allegations of anti-party, indiscipline, division, and acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute, Adebutu was expelled along with four other individuals: Taiwo Akinlabi, Sunday Solarin, Kayode Adebayo, and Akinloye Bankole.

 

In a statement, Hon. Akintunde Mufutau, the chairman of the disciplinary committee, said: “After carefully examining the allegations made against them, the panel found Adebutu and others guilty. They have since received a recommendation for expulsion, which has been forwarded to the appropriate party organs for approval.

Recall that the party on Tuesday removed Otunba Jimi Lawal, a candidate for governor, for gross misbehavior, forgery, anti-party actions, and disobedience to the party’s constitution.

The NWC and NEC setup disciplinary committee, led by Barrister Tola Odulaja, that Jimi Lawal be expelled.

 

Along with Jimi Lawal, Muyiwa Odebiyi, Moruf Olajide, and Ademola Ojoye were also expelled.
