NNPC Unveils Masterplan For Kwara State Women | See Details

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited, and partners have opened and turned over a women development and skills acquisition center in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, as part of their corporate social responsibility efforts.

In a statement released yesterday, the oil major stated that the self-sustaining skill acquisition center was anticipated to create money while lowering youth and women’s unemployment rates and community unrest in villages throughout the state.

The fully equipped development center includes four training halls for fashion designing and tailoring, catering and hotel management, computer training and mixed training facility, sick-bay, over 400 seater auditorium and lounge supported with a solar power generating unit.

The project, which aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is part of efforts to mitigate various identified gaps, according to Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer of the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), who was represented at the inauguration and handover ceremony by Mrs. Bunmi Lawson.

The project is one of eight that will be inaugurated in November 2022, according to the managing director and chief executive of TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited, Mr. Mike Sangster, who was present in person by the executive director of people and country service, Mr. George Oguachuba. Another 19 projects are still in the planning stages and will be inaugurated once they are finished, he added.

Omu-Aran community is among the 64 communities that benefited from the corporate social responsibility of NNPC TotalEnergies Sapetro and others across the country’s geo-political zones.
