NIJ Deputy Provost, Dr Omojuyigbe Promises To Ensure Discipline

The newly appointed Deputy Provost of The Nigerian Institute of Journalism Dr. Dele Omojuyigbe has promised to ensure that students of the school maintained discipline in their work and conduct.

Omojuyigbe, who made the declaration during an interaction with the students added that for a start, the rule on minimum class attendance would be enforced to the latter, and that any student who desired good pass should work for it

While generally commending the products of the school for their performance in the media world, he said feedbacks from the alumni of the school had remained encouraging.

This he said, had accounted to media houses expressing willingness to retain those who serve with them in the course of their internship, urging upcoming students to keep up the good work.

He reiterated the rule against students staying back on campus hours after their last lectures saying they were expected to evacuate the campus by 7:30pm from Monday to Thursday, and by 9:30pm on Fridays.

Omojuyigbe, who had been Head of Department of General Studies before now, expressed concern at the level of grammatical blunders committed by some students, adding that this should not be.

He thus encouraged the students to inculcate the habit of reading so that they could improve their grammatical competences.

In response to comments by the students, he promised that where necessary that results would be scrutinized to ensure that students got wheat they deserved.

Recently the board of the NIJ made some changes in the management cadre of the school, leading to the emergence of Dr Omojuyigbe as Deputy Provost, replacing Dr Jide Johnson who had been holding the post, and Mrs Patricia Kalesanwo as the Acting Registrar in place of Mr Dotun Adenijo.

Mr Gbemiga Ogunleye however retained his position as the provost.
