Nigeria Customs Begins 2025 Recruitment Exercise, Lists Process

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced its commencement of the 2025 recruitment exercise, listing procedures for interested applicants

The NCS made the announcement on its official platform, following a decision made at the 61st quarterly board meeting held in Abuja on December 18.

This development comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 budget, which targets N35 trillion in revenue.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), ostensibly one the federal government’s cash cow is poised to play a crucial part in realizing this objective.

Significantly, the NCS has already amassed over N5 trillion by November 2024 and is anticipated to augment its revenue generation capacities.

The Nigeria Customs commenced the application process for the enlistment of personnel into diverse roles within its Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant ranks on Friday.

This move comes after a recent declaration by the NCS, stating that it had obtained authorisation to enlist 3,927 officers in 2025, as part of its continuous endeavors to streamline trade procedures and bolster the nation’s economic resurgence.

The agency cautioned the public to exercise vigilance against scammers who may attempt to deceive unsuspecting applicants during the hiring period. The agency stressed that the application process is completely cost-free and unbiased, warning applicants not to make any payments. Instead, applicants should report anyone soliciting payment.

Those To Be Recruited

To be eligible, an applicant must be a Nigerian citizens by birth, posses a valid National Identification Number (NIN), and have no criminal record or ongoing investigations.

Furthermore, applicants must be in good physical and mental health, submitting evidence of medical clearance from an accredited government medical facility. Please note that the online application platform opened on December 27, 2024, and will shut down on January 2, 2025.

Academic qualifications for the three cadres include the following:

Superintendent Cadre: Applicants must have a university degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Inspectorate Cadre: Applicants must have a minimum of a National Diploma (ND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from an accredited institution.

Customs Assistant Cadre: Applicants must have a minimum of an O’Level certificate (WAEC or NECO).
