Nigeria Can Now Make Her Own Covid 19 Vaccines – NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has revealed Nigeria can produce its own vaccines including for Covid 19 with the assurance of global standard quality.
The director general of the Agency, Mojisola Adeyeye revealed in a statement on Sunday that with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Maturity Level 3 certification, ‘’Nigeria can now make her own vaccines and we can assure the populace that there is quality in whatever is being manufactured because of NAFDAC’s strength’’.
She expressed shock at how neglected the health sector had been before the current administration intervened via the COVID-19 Committees of the National Assembly.
She called the excessive spending by the federal government on the fight against COVID-19, as demonstrated by the creation of a new COVID-19 laboratory at the Agency that is furnished with cutting-edge technology and conveniences, as a wake-up call for the nation.

“There will be a lot of competition and if NAFDAC’s laboratory is not strengthened, we will not be able to compete. For Vaccine, we are hoping that the vaccine facilities from the public- private partnership will soon happen’’, warning that ‘’but if the regulatory agency is not strong, we can make vaccine that will destroy our own people’’ she added.
She stressed that the COVID-19 fund’s influence should be clearly understood by the entire nation as proof that the government’s goals can be achieved if the proper individuals are placed in the appropriate positions.
‘’Whatever approvals that are being given by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on funding our activities, you can actually touch such and this is what has happened here today’’, She said.
