New Year Party Turns Tragic After Fires Engulf Venue

Several people have lost their lives while many more have sustained injuries after fire broke out at a New Year Party.

The number of casualties remain unknown but the incident has sent shockwaves in and around Alpine ski resort in southern Switzerland where the new year party went underway.

Spokesperson for the Valais police, Gaetan Lathion, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the Le Constellation Lounge Bar in Crans-Montana.

The lounge bar is popular ski destination in the canton of Valais, but it was not yet clear how many people were at the venue at the time of the tragedy

“This morning, January 1, 2026, a fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. at Le Constellation lounge bar in Crans-Montana in the canton of Valais,” Lathion confirmed.

“There are several injuries and several fatalities,” he added.
