N5k COVID-19 Palliative Disbursement – what Nigerians Want
BY CAMI EZENWA
Angry reactions have continued to trail the reported approval and disbursement of N5, 000 COVID-19 Palliative to vulnerable Nigerians to enable them cope with challenges of COVID-19 lockdown.
The Eagle Story on the issue had been influenced by the realisation, first and foremost that Nigerians indeed were suffering the lockdown not only because it took a lot of people by surprises, but also because with sincerity on the part of our rulers, Nigerian as a country has more than enough resources to support its citizens across board in this trying time.
Aside the wealth in the treasury, kindhearted philanthropists made several billions of naira donation that should have spured increased governmental decision to reach out to Nigerians.
This, however, has not been the case. And given that all of us have a role to play in making this country better, we will not relent in drawing attention to those issues that affect us as a nation, which when addressed will bring peace and harmony as well as patriotism to the country.
So, today, we reproduce the reactions of Nigerians to The Eagle story on the N5k COVID-19 Palliative; please endeavor to air your views on the matter. This is our country, and we will not keep quiet concerning the way things are run here.
Happy reading:
My prayer to God is to help us kill all our leaders with this covid 19

Please government should do something about this, why haven’t they sent the money, hungry go kill us
Great Amaka

In fact, what I see in the last few weeks of this lockdown is suffering and hardship in average Nigerians. Hunger may become the most feared than corona virus itself.

Nigeria government ọlọrun lóba elesan ooooooo
– Micheal Adejuwon
What is the real problem with Nigeria? Everything is always an issue. The money self won’t even reach the proper people who are in need of it. I know of some families that won’t survive before next week Monday, Just that if the money does not reach places we the youth will arise and we won’t sit at home and wait any longer, I myself can’t die in silence
– Victor Essien
I need the money also
-Sammy
We really need money ,for feeding, please FG do something about it.
– Jessy
The federal government should be fast with what they want to do,because people are dying of hunger not COVID-19
–Eunice
Hmmmmmmmm I regret the day I was born a Nigerian
– Engr Marcus
It’s very good what His Excellency has said but is it’s not everyone that has account, they should take the cash to the rural areas and distribute the money in cash. This is my own opinion.
– Korkyaa Stephen Terna
Please I really need the palliative
I’m dying here because of hunger
Starving here and there!
-Samuel Nseabasi
I just wanted to know why Lagos State indigenes didn’t qualify for the monetary palliatives.
– Paul Taiwo Wiltshire
Let government help us because this thing is too much for us to bear
–-Damilola
Those that you want to give the N5000, are they the only ones voting in Nigeria?
-Balogun Ridwan
My question is, what about those that have phone but they do not have account, how are they going to access the money? And please make it snappy, people need money.
–Akinyemi Bolaji Abimbola
We need to fear God in this country; if any money enter into our account you remove your percentage tax immediately to pay us money, is it hard for You?
America paid everybody with working permit $1200. They even gave their babies. Where are we going in this country? We cannot satisfy our country
God is not happy about Nigeria, even dead people are not.
-Olaniyi
Good idea
-Mr Khaleelullahi
I saw the link but must it be shared to 7groups on Whatsapp before I am given. I don’t have any group and don’t belong to any. so am I disqualified
– Yinusa Omotayo
To he’ll with their money, when corruption has eaten deep into this our blood, those expecting the money should keep waiting. AS For me I don’t have more than #150 naira in my account. But if the children of Israelite can survive in the wilderness for forty years plus I will survive during this lock-down period.
– Dan
When will the money be given and besides, how about the Ikeja Electric bills federal government pronounced that two months payment would be covered up and Ikeja Electric was telling us to be paying because federal government hasn’t signed any valid agreement with them? This is a very important issue because when we couldn’t go to work how can we be paying for the service.
– Sunday Benjamin Aribilola
We are dying by hunger, Please
– David Abali
When will it be distributed and what about the aged and disables that have no account, how will they cope? Please people are starving seriously.
If the sharing can be done just like the time of census, it would be better because of the aged and disabled. Please federal, see to it
–-Nancy
Good measure but please make it snappy
-OTHAMETAH GEORGE.
– In this time of corona stuff, things are very hard that I just need to beg a friend to send me a token that after everything I will pay back. Please, government should just make it real
Temitope
To be honest we the poor masses are really suffering, no food or money to Carter for our needs, please government help us.
–-Joice love
How can this 5k get to those that are suffering without bank account, it would have be easy reaching them via communities but our politicians will not allow it get to this poor person’s. It is either they politicised the sharing or share it among their families.
-Emiator Janet
My good leaders and people of Nigeria, people are busy talking of how to share money amongst the people. Let’s also talk of how we can turn to God to ask for our forgiveness so that our land can be healed.
–-Nuhu Adamu Kamale
People are dying of hunger, Federal Government should start paying the money.
-YEWANDE OKE
And how true is it, please save the life of men.
-Samuel Adetoyi
I will support such idea because even our greedy politicians would have love to participate in it.
-Don9ja
They should start immediately.
-Gbenga
Hmmmmmmm other countries are doing good to their citizens but not this country Nigeria. May God help us we the poor.
– Rex Kelvin
It’s a very nice idea. But please, let the payment be distributed evenly to everyone.
–Abatta Godswill
This is very funny, the governments are tricksters. If they truly want to share money to the low citizens they would have done it since and not talk about it. Their sharing is audio sharing. We are hearing and not seeing it. More than 40million Nigerians have BVN, even if it is 10,000naira or even 5000naira it would go a long way. Stop giving conditions, people are starving everyday. We hear about billions and trillions of naira everyday but more than 90% of Nigerians haven’t gotten even a 100naira. Our government is a serious joke.
-Dominic
You mean someone who is having 5000 thousand naira in his or her account is a rich man in Nigeria? How much is a basket of rice, beans and garri? Nigeria leaders, make onah do well.
-Meeting
So, if you don’t have up to 5000 in your account, you are not getting? Now, I don’t have anything in my account so I can’t survive with my family? Wonders shall never end and I have no job…
-Faith Baba
Here is the scam behind this all… Someone staying in Lagos, had his/her account opened in a local government area in Ilorin… Here has less than #5000 in his account. How are they going know he is an urban or rural person? Of they don’t want to help the poor let them say so and we will just do like Ecuador and try to save ourselves.
–-Solomon
It should be done faster because many are slumping to death every day due to hunger, house rent palaver and other pressing issues of life. Thanks to the government and other philanthropists.
-Oke Christopher
What of those that don’t have anything in their account? I think accountant should find out the solution in order for us to benefit from it.
–-Abdul Hakeem
Government should hear the cry of the massses…….since last two weeks before adding another extra two weeks we have been hearing cash transfer from federal Government, is it when we all die in hunger that they will start to send the money.??
Nigeria is number one among the un-serious countries in the whole world.
–-Chukwudi Chibunna
I think they will surely do it.
-Alabi Kolawole
Please I have not received my own alert. Please, l need the money. Account number:313……., FIRST BANK, Account Name, Dimanyaoha CHIUGO Perpetual,
-AGBO CHIUGO
Please and please sir, when are they going to start paying us , I am expecting the money because i am broke now, no food for me to eat, please, here is my account number 204……. UBA
–-Sunday Gbenga
Please, remember me o. Hunger wants to finish one o. I seriously need the money. God bless you.
-Iniz Monday
Please o, I am hungry oooooo. No money no money. Please, government help us o. As I am writing now, last month’s salary has not been paid. Please, pay us o as i don not have a dime in my account. Have been ‘drinking’ Garry since two days no; it’s not easy for me. Please, do something.
-Gift Okon Udo
Please i need the money
-Alex
When would the Nigeria government start sharing the 5,000 naira they promised, because Nigerians are not getting any money yet.

So when would they start giving out the money to us?
-Atoyebi ismail
This is good but what about the one’s who are suffering and they don’t have an account? Or when will the money be paid, because a lot of people are starving slowly.
-Akpobome Mercy
The government said urban. If you are in an urban area you are supposed to have an account, period
-Kelvin
What about those who top up their phones with N100.00 but do not have account numbers? Furthermore, what of those who cannot even top up their phones at all and don’t have account numbers. What of those who are over 70 years and are sick with diabetes, hypertension, etc and can’t afford even drugs for treatment? There are many people who are excluded.
-SERUMUN PETSE BUTU
Hope the bank name is not restricted because Nigerians use different banks. Also, account number is not restricted.
Some account numbers start with three zeros while some take another digit different from zeros.
-Moradeyo
What of those people that do not have an Account, how are they going to get their own money?
-Nifemi
We don’t want all these stories, they should send the money, that’s all we need.
-Stephen
Thanks my brother God bless you! 20k is nothing if repent to the creator (Allah). May Allah forgive us! Repentance is the solution! Let’s all repent to Allah, and see the Wonder. 20k is nothing. Allah Himself will eradicate the Covid 419
-Abufir Dausi,
From the above, the last on N5k COVID-19 Palliative has not been heard. Even with the restriction on movement already relaxed, those concerned should go ahead and make the incentive go round just as promised
