‘My Dream’ – Greenwood Reveals He Wants To Join Barcelona 

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has reportedly told his advisors that sealing a transfer to Barcelona is his “dream”.

With Manchester United having approved his exit last summer after a six-month inquiry into his behaviour off the pitch, Greenwood has been able to revive his career on loan at Getafe this season. With his 16 La Liga games, the 22-year-old has contributed seven goals, drawing interest from teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Greenwood is reportedly Barcelona’s top summer target and they hope to sign him as early as June, according to The Sun. The former United player has told his agents that he views Camp Nou as his “dream” destination, and Barca executives are certain that he possesses all the necessary skills to lead the team to the next level. According to the source, United is expected to incorporate many add-ons into any agreement, which will be contingent on Greenwood’s playing schedule for Barcelona and maybe England.

Greenwood has only won one England cap so far, back in 2020, but hasn’t given up on earning a recall to Gareth Southgate’s squad. The Getafe star has also been linked with clubs in Italy, but is eager to continue making a name for himself in La Liga, with United braced to receive a formal offer from Barca in the coming months.

The Sun further claims that in an effort to start a “new chapter” under INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who have acquired a 25 percent share in the team, United is keen to sell Greenwood entirely at the end of the current campaign. Greenwood is still under contract at Old Trafford until 2025 after charges for attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm were dropped in February of last year. However, following backlash from the public, United reversed course and reintegrated Greenwood into the first team squad. Greenwood will continue to concentrate on his responsibilities at Getafe and Monday’s home match against Granada in anticipation of an impending big move to Barcelona.
