Data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) revealed MTN had the highest number of customers who ported to their network in August.
The data shows a total of 2,389 subscribers were ported from one network to another in August 2022, with MTN recording 1,617.
Airtel claiming the second spot attracted 387, 9mobile received 279 customers, while Globacom attracted 106.
According to the NCC , the movement was achieved through the Mobile Number Portability (MNP), instituted by the telecoms regulator, which allows customers to change their service providers without changing their numbers.

However, outgoing porting caused the operators to lose some of the new clients they had acquired from one another. With 1,394 users leaving its network to join others, 9mobile ended up with the month’s largest loss, while Airtel saw 515 outbound portings.
MTN also lost 249 subscribers to other networks as 231 subscribers left Globacom’s network to others.
