Motorist Arrested For Failing To Give Way To The King’s Motorcade

A motorist has been arrested by police on duty for failing to give way to the motorcade conveying the king,

Police officers intercepted the suspect at Airport Police checkpoint where he was detained, the Zambian Observer reports.

The 55-year-old man of Meanwood Ndeke in Lusaka, has been identified as Mr. Adamson Neil

According to the report, Mr. Neil disregarded Police directives to give way to the motorcade which was carrying His Majesty, King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Eswatini to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport along Airport road around 10:00 hours.

The incident occurred between Zambia Air Force Base turn off and Meanwood Ndeke junction.

Mr. Neil who was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero registration number ABX 9562, while driving towards ZAF Base turn off, disobeyed Police directives for him to pave way for the motorcade.

Police officers intercepted and arrested the suspect at Airport Police checkpoint where he was detained.

He was released after paying K300.00 admission of guilt fine.

The Eagle reports that eSwatini, was adopted as the official name of Swaziland by the kingdom upon celebrating 50 years of independence from British rule.

This was formally declared by King Mswati III, who added:

“I would like to announce that Swaziland will now revert to its original name.

“African countries on getting independence reverted to their ancient names before they were colonised. So from now on the country will be officially be known as the Kingdom of eSwatini.”
