More Refereeing Drama In LaLiga As Barcelona Lists Alleged Questionable Decisions 

Four contentious refereeing decisions—two in Real Madrid’s favour and two against them—have been accumulated by Barcelona.

After just four La Liga game weeks this season, the Catalan heavyweights have voiced their displeasure over the poor refereeing.

According to AS, the club has reportedly begun gathering refereeing mistakes that have unfairly favoured archrivals and the ones that went against them.

The following incidents make up their list of claims thus far. Eder Militao’s foul in Real Madrid’s season opener did not result in a penalty being awarded to Athletic in the first game week, while Barcelona’s opening-game penalty against Getafe was also not awarded. On the other hand, Barcelona was refused two penalties in the second game week after fouls on Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski. Bellingham’s goal against Almeria stood despite handball protests.

On the third matchday, Alexander Sorloth’s second goal for Villarreal against Barcelona stood up while a goal by Celta Vigo against Real Madrid was ruled out for a foul on custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Xavi loudly criticised the refereeing choices throughout the match, particularly a late penalty appeal that was rejected by VAR following a handball by Gavi, as Barcelona’s season opener against Getafe finished in a goalless draw.

The next game for Xavi’s team will take place on September 16 in La Liga against Real Betis.
