More Midfield Woes For Man United As Casemiro Suffers Another Setback 

Erik ten Hag has stated that Casemiro would miss the upcoming games due to an injury he sustained against Newcastle United.

The midfielder who had recovered from an ankle injury sustained during the October international break, suffered another setback when he returned to duty against Newcastle United. After the Red Devils lost 3-0 to the Magpies at Old Trafford, Ten Hag gave Casemiro the captain’s armband as Bruno Fernandes was rested. Despite this, the midfield mainstay was unable to keep the Red Devils from losing the Carabao Cup.

The Brazilian only lasted 45 minutes, with Ten Hag confirming to reporters after the match that he had to replace him with Sofyan Amrabat due to a knock: “He was injured. Just before halftime, that is why we had to take him off.”

The manager said, “I can’t give an answer; we have to wait 24 hours, but I think definitely for Saturday he is out,” in response to a question on when Casemiro would return.

A slew of early fouls plagued Casemiro’s performance, and he was booked by the referee for a challenge on Joe Willock. Along with an unimpressive Mason Mount and Hannibal Mejbri, he found it difficult to contain Newcastle’s midfield as United fell behind 2-0 after the opening forty-five minutes of play.

Casemiro is doubtful to be able to play in the two games against FC Copenhagen and Luton on November 9 and 11, respectively, before the international break begins. He will not be available against Fulham on Saturday.
