Nigeria’s green-white-green flag will be hoisted high in Brazil come October 5-11 2025 when the Miss Teen Planet 2025 competition holds.

She would be ably represented at the global pageant by lovely and vivacious Melody Tokoni Nelson:

The 19 year old Akwa Ibom born lady, with maternal roots in Bayelsa, has had an impressive run in preceding pageants, and poised to make Nigeria proud in South American soil.

This much she shared with The Eagle correspondent in an exclusive interviews. Excerpts.

Could you please give an insight into your background?

I am Melody Tokoni Nelson, a 19-year-old from Akwa Ibom state, Uruk- Anam local Government area to be precise

My Father is Nelson Nsikan while my mum’s name is Victoria Dimie Nelson, originally from kolokuma/opokuma local Government area of the state.

How about an insight into your educational history

My education was first at Trillium Stars British International School for primary and  Cedar Grows International School for secondary.

Following my parents’ educational and career history, and encouragement, I have been able to develop personal social awareness in contemporary issues.

Aside social awareness, are there particular skills that stand you out?

Yes. My parents always encourage me to seek the best of the natural gifts and talents that God has blessed me with.

Melody Tokoni Nelson: Set to fly Nigeria’s flag honourably in Brazil

Personally, I have developed a strong foundation in various fields.

Can you be specific and tell us those areas where you are skilled?

I’m a singer, screenwriter, actress and a model. I have also participated in some contests along those areas. Eventually, I would like to be at the University of Lagos; I am set to embark on an academic journey in English Studies this 2025.

We would like to have specific examples in those contests and your achievements?

I am a proud nominee of the Kids’ Rights Programme 2022, which was held in the Netherlands.

Due to my performance, I was selected as one of the top 100 participants. I went around schools educating the younger ones and training them in different fields. This experience not only earned me a certificate but also instilled in me a sense of responsibility to make a positive impact in my community.

I was crowned at Miss Grand Nigeria 2025 competition where I represented Bayelsa State.

Now that you are the official candidate representing Nigeria at Miss Teen Planet 2025, what are your hopes?

Positive ones, because I know I have what it takes to win the Miss Teen Planet 2025, with prayers.

I am dedicated to representing my community and promoting values that align with the mission of the organisers.

Nigerians would like to know, what are your philosophies in life?

Number one, I firmly believe that there are no limits to human potential.

Secondly, I encourage young people to strive for excellence, and seek to contribute positively to society and the environment.

I am a passionate individual, and I am committed to making a difference in this contest and be an inspiration to others.
