Social media is buzzing up following the loss of life of a United Kingdom, UK-Based Nigerian Woman, Damilola Balogun, to medical complications

News of passing of the woman who welcomed a new baby just five months ago, as shared and re-shared by concerned patriots using their social media handles, is also rallying the Nigerian community in the UK.

“A UK-based Nigerian woman, Damilola Balogun, has d+ed following weeks of medical complications”, according to a statement shared by SK the Plug (@DHKRULLAH) on X.

“Damilola passed away on January 1, 2026, leaving her family and loved ones in deep mourning.

“She was described as a loving wife, devoted mother and the main applicant for her family’s skilled worker visa”.

Other accounts indicated that her passing was the cap of a period of pain and anguish led by severe migraines.

And although she reportedly visited Walsall Manor Hospital, where she was treated and discharged, the condition was back 3 days later, with latter results showing she had fluid on her brain.

Thus followed a surgery procedure which was initially successful and raised hopes of recovery, but her condition worsened days later.

“Three days after the procedure, Damilola slipped into a coma and was placed on life support. Despite medical intervention and prayers, doctors later confirmed she could not recover. Life support was withdrawn on the morning of January 1, 2026.

“While others were welcoming the first day of a new year in celebration, this family was plunged into unbearable grief,” the statement added.

Amongst her immediate survivors  her husband, 3 children aged 11 years, 10 years and 5 months, her mother and grandmother.

Bills are now mounting especially given that the husband had been largely demobilized from work seeking to take care of the woman.

“Their savings have been completely exhausted, and the family is now facing funeral costs and the immense responsibility of raising three children without their mother,” a fundraising appeal stated.

“No amount is too small. Your donation will help cover funeral and burial expenses, provide immediate support for her children, and ease the financial burden on the grieving family.”

The Eagle News Checks show that the “Help Us Lay Damilola Balogun to Rest & Support Her Children” fund raising appeal on gofundme has already generated 29, 000 pounds.
