The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has urged the Federal Government to mandate petroleum products marketers to make the product available at the approved price.

The association demanded so in a statement today, declaring that there was no basis to subject Nigerians to the ongoing hardship they had been going through sourcing products.

Stating its position via a statement signed by Its President, Mr Festus Osifo and Secretary General, Mr Lumumba Okugbawa, it asked the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to make the marketers to make the product available at the approved price.

NMDPRA, PENGASSAN suggested further, should mobilise its workforce across the country to enforce compliance with the directive.

“We understand that the parameters imputed into the old Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency and now Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) template has since changed.

“This is because of some economic vagaries such as exchange rate fluctuation, vessel hiring cost and cost of AGO among others”, the officers said..

They added: “However, there is no sufficient justification for petrol to be selling for such highly inflated price, thereby subjecting the masses to further difficulties, “
