Manchester United Investor Ratcliffe Banned From Criticising Glazers In Public 

As part of the agreement for his half ownership of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not be permitted to publicly disparage Joel Glazer and Avram.

On Christmas Eve, United announced that they had reached an agreement wherein the British billionaire will pay £1.25 billion ($1.59 billion) for a 25% ownership position in the team. Ratcliffe and the Glazer family agreed not to publicly disparage one another as part of the agreement, according to The Times.

According to the British newspaper, a document has been submitted to the New York Stock Exchange which shows the finer details of the deal between Ratcliffe and Manchester United and it confirms that the two parties won’t make statements which “constitute an ad hominem attack on, criticise, or otherwise disparage, the sellers [The Glazers], the company [United] or their respective affiliates.”

The records also state that Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc, two employees of Ratcliffe’s company INEOS, will be joining the United board. United will reportedly need to confer with INEOS before making any transfers during the January window, even though the Premier League has not yet approved the partial takeover.

Ratcliffe’s contract must be approved by the Premier League and the Class A shareholders of the team. The Glazer family will profit £715 million ($913 million) from the sale of the shares to the British billionaire if the deal closes.
