Man Utd Injuries Worsen As Antony Ruled Out Of Leeds Clash

Antony has been added to Erik ten Hag’s extensive injury list, making him unavailable for Manchester United’s match against Leeds.

In the 70th minute of United’s 2-1 victory over the Eagles, Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp shoved the Brazilian into the advertising boards; he afterwards appeared to be in some discomfort after being replaced.

Both guys will be absent when United hosts Leeds at Old Trafford in midweek due to Casemiro’s involvement in the fight that ensued the incident, which resulted in his sending off and a three-game suspension.

Additionally, Ten Hag has revealed that Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial are still out owing to individual injuries.

“They [Martial and McTominay] are not involved tomorrow,” said Ten Hag at his press conference. “And the same with Antony dos Santos. He is also not available for tomorrow so we have to sort that out.”

Furthermore, United is without Palace loanee Jack Butland and Donny van de Beek, who will be out for the rest of the season. A major ankle problem is also expected to prevent Christian Eriksen from playing again until at least late April.

Ten Hag does not want to use the Red Devils’ growing injury problems as an excuse and instead wants to produce a successful outcome at all costs.

“I’m the manager. I always have to play with the players who are available,” he added.

“We have a squad, we have many good players available in that squad, who are not always in the starting XI. So, others [will] get the chance and I have to do it. After the game, I can’t say Casemiro is not there, Anthony Martial is not there. No, we have to win. This squad, all players in [it], are Man United capable, so they have to perform tomorrow and we have to win the games, no matter who is coming on the pitch.”

When United plays Leeds on Wednesday night, it will be interesting to observe how Ten Hag organises his thinly populated squad.
