Man United CEO To Resign If Ratcliffe Takeover Deal Goes Through 

Richard Arnold is expected to step down as Manchester United’s CEO in the event that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is able to secure a 25% stake.

A lifelong United fan, British petrochemicals entrepreneur Ratcliffe is set to pay £1.4 billion to buy a 25% stake in the team from the Glazer family, following a drawn-out selling process that began in November of last year. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, who withdrew from the bidding process this week after both sides filed many proposals, and Ratcliffe were the front-runners in the competition. However, according to The Athletic, there will be a personnel shake-up in which Arnold will lose his position since Ratcliffe is trying to wrap up his ownership stake and his team is expected to take over management of football matters at Old Trafford.

According to the report, Jean-Claude Blanc, the current CEO of INEOS Sport, who once led Juventus, is already being considered to succeed Arnold. Since February 2022, Arnold has served as Manchester United’s CEO, taking over from Ed Woodward.

Ratcliffe’s minority shareholding needs to be approved by all twelve board members, including Arnold, so the process could take many weeks to complete.
